The NWLC speaker for this event is Judy Appelbaum, not Judy Waxman.

this has nothing to do with the post. it's just a link i thought i'd share.
http://hollabacknyc.blogspot.com/
it's a blog for women (and men) to post pictures of people who harass them on the street (and elsewhere: like the workplace). it's another take on social policing via the internet and cellphones (wikipedia the dog poop lady for one example). i think that it serves mostly as a venting tool. get the anger out, read about other people who successfully shut down street harassment, and prep yourself to do it when it happens to you. because it will.
any woman knows, even those who eschew feminine clothing, that she's bound to get harassed on the street. i am always astounded when it happens to me, in my baggy jeans, but then i realize that it's not about the sexiness (via femininity) of the woman but rather, it's about harassing a woman because she is a woman. yeah, that made sense in my head.

so anyway, i hate gwen stefani but her song has at least spawned this blog.
